Leafy greens are the most alkaline and mineral rich foods you can find. And for some people it s pretty hard to eat huge amounts of greens in one sitting, so that’s when green smoothies or green juices come into play.
Green smoothies are packed with a lot of nutrients, they’re easy to digest, rich in fiber and super satiating. And for people like me who like their fruity meals but have troubles to get in their daily dose of veggies green smoothies are a great solution because you don’t even notice the veggies due to the fruity taste.
As the greens and fruits are already blended up and liquefied, smoothies are quicker and easier to digest, as the blending already opens up the nutrients and makes them easily absorbable.
While the fruits in it will provide you with energy and vitamins, the greens will provide you with valuable minerals to keep your bones, teeth and tissues healthy. Besides that, the greens give it a balance so the sugar content doesn’t lead to blood sugar spikes and will keep you satiated longer.
And if you’re trying to lose weight, green smoothies are the perfect food for you because they’re low in calories but high in fiber and water. This will help you to fight cravings and hunger.
If you’d eat a meal of just fruits like a mono-meal of bananas for example then it might happen that you’re totally stuffed after it but yet you’re still feeling hungry. That is because the fruits didn’t contain enough nutrients to satiate you on a cellular level. Plus fruits are nowadays very often hybridized and contain a lot more sugar than they did in the past.

Broccoli, cucumber, grasses, kale, parsley, spinach,sprouts, sea veggies.

Aavocado, arugula, basil, beet, celery, chives, cilantro, garlic, ginger, lemon/lime, lettuce, okra, onions, peppers, radishes.
🌱 Slightly alkaline 🌱
Almond milk, artichokes, asparagus, cauliflower, carrots, coconut, grapefruit, herbs, peas, pomegranate, pumpkin, rhubarb, watercress, zucchini.
♥ Neutral ♥
Cantaloup, fresh dates, nectarine, plums, paranuts, pecans, hazelnuts, sweet cherries, watermelon.
♥ Moderately acidic ♥
Apple, apricot, banana, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, grapes, mango, orange, peach, papaya, pineapple, strawberries.
Green Smoothie Recipes:
1. 1-2 Cherimoyas (peeled & pitted), 1 large zucchini, 1 big bundle of arugula, 1-2 cups of turnip greens topped with 1 banana
2. 1 pear, 1/4-1/2 of a large papaya (peeled), 2-4 cups of lacinato kale topped with 1 cup of raspberries
3. 1-2 Cherimoyas/Pears, 1 zucchini, 3-4 cups of spinach, 1 tsp of carob powder, a dash of vanilla topped with wild blueberries
Feel free to adjust the recipes to your needs by adding either more fruits or greens. ;-D
