Durian is one of those fruits that most people don’t like when they first try it. And I sure was one of those too. I tried it from a whole frozen and defrosted fruit and the smell was already so disgusting that trying was quite a challenge.

About a half year later I tried it again and the smell still made me turn right away.

I’ve had one more try in between and here I am again trying my luck with it in a frozen state, so the smell is not as intense.

And guess what 4 is the lucky number when it comes to durian. This time I actually fell in love with it and didn’t even mind the smell.

So never give up on giving fruits that you don’t like another try!

Durian is also one of the fruits that is higher in fat like avocados. This makes the ice cream really creamy and it doesn’t melt away as fast as nice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 cups of frozen choped up durian, deseeded
  • Chocolate topping
  • Cookie Monster topping
  • Berries

Directions

  1. Remove the seeds out of the frozen durian pods and blend up the meat in a mixer or food processor until smooth.
  2. Scoop your ice cream into a serving glass and top it off with your favourite topping (chocolate, cookie dough, berries, date caramel, berry sauce, etc.)

Chocolate Topping: Add linseeds, carob and vanilla powder into a coffee grinder and blend into a chunky powder. Add date chunks or raisins and give it another quick blend. (http://www.naturallyrawsome.com/toppings/)
